5 foreign nationals charged with forgery

NEWTON FALLS

Five foreign nationals arrested on the Ohio Turnpike in Braceville Township Friday are scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. today in Newton Falls Municipal Court, according to Trumbull County Jail officials.

All are charged with possessing criminal tools and forgery.

According to reports, the Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled over their vehicle for making an improper lane change.

A search of the car turned up the criminal tools.

The suspects, being held in lieu of $25,000 bond each, pending their court appearance, are: Jibril Abdiselam, 24; Mohammeddeq Hassan, 27; Mahamoud Mohamed, 26; Zakaria Warsame, 25; and Said Abu, 24.

Duplex shot up

YOUNGSTOWN

Police said no one was injured after a duplex was shot up about 9:25 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of West Judson Avenue.

Reports said officers were answering a gunfire call in the area when they were flagged down by a man who said his duplex was shot up.

Police went to the duplex and found several bullet holes and three spent .45-caliber rounds.

Another person who was inside told police he was inside the duplex and when he turned out the lights he heard several gunshots.

Lighting ceremony

AUSTINTOWN

The Wickliffe Circle Christmas Committee is sponsoring its 29th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony Dec. 3 at Wickliffe Circle Fire Station, 4102 Mahoning Ave.

At 6:45 p.m., a Christmas carol sing-a-long will begin with the Fitch Brass Band, and at 7 p.m., the Christmas tree lights will be turned on and Santa Claus will arrive on a firetruck. Santa will go into the fire station and all the children will have an opportunity to talk to him.

Austintown’s local television station will record Santa talking to the children, and each child will receive a candy cane.

Cookies, candy, hot chocolate, red punch and coffee will be provided with assistance from Austintown Junior League members.
