A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Nov. 12

Theft: A Forest Hill Avenue man discovered two personal checks missing.

Nov. 13

Thefts/burglary: Police were investigating a series of car break-ins and a burglary in the township. Stolen merchandise included small sums of money, a wallet, a purse and a credit card.

Identity fraud: A Bel Aire Lane man found out his checking-account number had been stolen, resulting in a $1,000 loss.

Nov. 15

Recovered property: A 2014 Honda CRV that had been reported stolen was found in the 2400 block of Ridgeview Lane.

Assault: A Hunters Hill Drive woman told police she had been assaulted, though she was not injured.

BOARDMAN

Nov. 10

Auto theft: A 2014 Honda CRV was stolen in the 1300 block of Meadowood Circle.

Burglary/auto theft: To a residence in the 100 block of Danbury Drive, from which a 2007 Chevrolet vehicle was stolen.

Bad checks: Lynn M. Yemma, 55, of Irma Avenue, Poland, surrendered on a felony charge of passing bad checks after two checks totaling $1,800 were reportedly passed earlier this year at Preston Auto Co., 7554 Market St., then returned for nonsufficient funds. Also facing the same charge was 36-year-old Erica L. Stacey of St. George Street, East Liverpool, who was accused of writing two such checks to Preston Auto Co., that were returned and failing to make good on the payment.

Theft: Austin J. Brown, 21, of West Pine Lake Road, Salem, was charged with stealing $463.50 worth of men’s clothing from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Nov. 11

Citation: Police responded to a report of three suspicious juveniles at Boardman High School on Glenwood Avenue before issuing a minor-misdemeanor citation to a 17-year-old township boy accusing him of having a pill bottle containing two small bags of suspected marijuana.

Drugs: A vehicle check near Market Street led to the arrest of Lisa A. Altman of Jaguar Drive, Boardman, on charges of possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. The 43-year-old Altman had a used hypodermic needle and a bag with suspected drug residue, police alleged.

Nov. 12

Arrest: Police responded to a suspicious person at a Tiffany Boulevard motel, where they took into custody 48-year-old Sonda A. Uzoho, who listed Canfield addresses on Topaz Circle and Brookpark Drive. Uzoho was accused of failing to appear in court to face a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Drug paraphernalia: A vehicle check on Market Street resulted in the arrest of 37-year-old Justin M. Cassidy of Arlene Avenue, Boardman, on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. While responding to a possible drug overdose May 22, police found a spoon with burn marks common in drug use as well as a small piece of cotton, a report showed.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole four bottles of perfume from Victoria’s Secret in Southern Park Mall.

Drugs: Authorities conducted a welfare check in the 5100 block of Youngstown-Poland Road, where they charged 21-year-old Anthony J. Lucente with possession of drugs, drug-abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia and cocaine. Lucente, of Flo-Lor Drive, Youngstown, had a case of a white powder thought to be cocaine, a suspected crack-cocaine pipe and a syringe, a report stated.

Identity theft: A Stratford Road man learned that someone had used his credit-card number at a Market Street drug store to make a $211 unauthorized transaction.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole $102 worth of merchandise, including men’s clothing, from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Criminal mischief: A Shadyside Drive woman reported someone had placed dog feces in her vehicle.

Domestic violence: Dena L. Milanowski of Palo Verde Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her mother alleged that during an altercation about money, the 34-year-old Milanowski had pushed her, causing the accuser to fall down a few steps.

Arrest: Melvin Vaughn, 46, of Canfield Road, Youngstown, surrendered on a misdemeanor warrant charging him with making a false alarm, as well as on a Lordstown warrant. On Sept. 1, someone called authorities claiming that a fight was occurring at a Carter Circle apartment, yet police found neither signs of a disturbance nor evidence of such a fight, a report showed.

Theft/criminal mischief: A man at Walmart reportedly removed 30 tablets, then placed the empty bottle in the store’s food section.

Theft: Dena L. Milanowski, 34, of Palo Verde Drive, Boardman, was phone booked at the Mahoning County jail after having been accused of stealing merchandise Nov. 4 from Victoria’s Secret.

Nov. 13

Burglary: To a residence in the 7100 block of Harrington Avenue through a side door. Stolen were several flat-screen TVs, a DVD player, a laptop computer, a printer and numerous pieces of jewelry.

Assaults: A Youngstown woman and her boyfriend each reported having been pushed by the other while at Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A Meadowbrook Avenue man alleged his former girlfriend took his $300 Android tablet and a $700 cellphone and refused to return the items.

Nov. 14

Auto thefts: A 2014 Chevrolet Equinox and a 2013 Kia Forte were stolen in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Avenue.

Theft: Two Youngstown girls, 16 and 17, were accused of stealing about $390 worth of clothing from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall. The younger girl also was charged with being an unruly juvenile.

Theft: A woman stole a $10 box of building blocks from Family Dollar, 4030 Market St.

Theft: Police picked up Isha M. Moss, 31, of East Florida Avenue, Youngstown, and 34-year-old Summer R. Roman of Irma Avenue, Poland, on theft charges related to an Oct. 28 shoplifting situation in which $100 worth of clothing was stolen from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Kelly J. Rodriguez-Acosta of Kent was charged in the theft of $284 worth of clothing from Macy’s.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vehicle in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Avenue and tampered with the contents in the glove compartment, though it appeared nothing was stolen.

Theft: A 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, both of Youngstown, were accused of stealing two cellphone cases from Walmart. The boy also was charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol.

Theft: A Youngstown boy, 17, was accused of taking a Sony PlayStation 3 game controller from Walmart.

Auto theft: A 2012 Dodge Journey vehicle was stolen in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Avenue.

Theft: A woman in her 30s reportedly stole 50 articles of women’s undergarments valued at $625 from Victoria’s Secret.

Nov. 15

Arrest: Officers took 18-year-old Ciara A. Mitulinski into custody near her Tam-o-Shanter Drive residence. The Poland woman was wanted on a Struthers Municipal Court bench warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court.

Theft: Dominick L. Dodson Jr. of West Delason Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing $109.50 worth of property from Walmart. Dodson, 24, also was cited on a drug-possession charge when, police alleged, he had 0.4 grams of suspected marijuana.

Criminal damaging: Authorities arrested 38-year-old David F. Vasvari on a criminal-damaging charge after his girlfriend alleged Vasvari, of Mathews Road, Boardman, had intentionally damaged a car stereo in her mother’s vehicle.

Theft: Two 13-year-old Youngstown boys were accused of stealing an $80 cellphone from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A man moving from a Cook Avenue apartment to Warren alleged that after having driven with a friend to a South Avenue convenience store, the friend took the accuser’s 1999 Pontiac Montana without permission.

Arrest: Officers investigated a vehicular accident on Ingram Drive before charging 62-year-old Taylor G. Evans III of Forest Lake Drive, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired. Evans’ blood-alcohol count was 0.157, nearly twice Ohio’s 0.08 legal limit, a report said.

Theft: A Youngstown man noticed a prescription-pill packet missing while shopping at a Doral Drive big-box store.

Recovered property: A Windsor Road man reported having found in his yard a bag containing clothing and a pair of shoes that had apparently been taken from a vehicle on nearby Oak Knoll Drive.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 600 block of Westfield Drive struck a car with eggs and cake mix.
