Boardman police investigating auto-theft incidents on Meadowbrook Avenue

Township police are investigating reports of several stolen vehicles and an attempted theft-from-auto on Meadowbrook Avenue over the weekend.

One resident reported that a blue 2012 Dodge Journey was taken from the driveway; another that a gray 2013 Kia Forte and black 2014 Chevy Equinox were stolen; and another that someone entered their vehicle, but did not take anything.

The Equinox later was recovered at an East Avondale Avenue property in Youngstown, according to a police report.

The owner of the Forte and Equinox told police that both vehicles were locked and that she had the keys in her possession when they were stolen.

Police are investigating another attempted theft-from-auto incident reported Sunday by Oak Knoll and Windsor drive residents. Two residents reported that someone entered their unlocked vehicles; in one case, the vehicle’s contents had been strewn across a lawn in the neighborhood. No items were missing, according to a report.

Police also are investigating a burglary reported Friday at a Harrington Avenue residence. The residents reported that they were missing electronic devices, jewelry, alcohol and prescription drugs, the total value of which was estimated at $7,630.

In other news, township police made a number of arrests over the weekend, mostly involving misdemeanor theft offenses related to reported shoplifting incidents.

In one such case, two 13-year-old boys from Youngstown were arrested Sunday after purportedly stealing from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

In other arrests news, Luis Cruz, 23, of Youngstown, was arrested early Monday on Southern Boulevard near Meadowbrook Avenue for operating a vehicle while impaired. On Sunday, George Taylor Evans III, 62, of Youngstown, was arrested on an OVI charge after purportedly crashing into a parked car on Ingram Drive.
