Arizona authorities capture 4 emus on the lam in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz.

Pima County authorities say four emus that got loose in a neighborhood on Tucson’s southwest side have been captured.

The four large birds were contained Nov. 5. County sheriff’s officials say two of the emus have been returned to their owner and are back in their pen.

They say the other two emus are being taken back to their owner in a horse trailer.

The emu is the largest bird native to Australia and the second-largest bird in the world, behind the ostrich.

In February, two quick-footed llamas dashed in and out of traffic in a Phoenix-area retirement community before they were captured by authorities, causing a stir in the streets and on social media.

Angler catches digital camera lost in Lake Michigan in 2013

GRAND HAVEN, Mich.

Andre Monterio has a fishing story about one that got away and eventually was caught. But what he pulled from Lake Michigan near Grand Haven in September had no scales or gills. It was a small digital camera knocked overboard two years ago from another boat.

WZZM-TV reported that Monterio put the camera’s memory card in his computer and saw “Mike’s Family Pharmacy” in one photo. He contacted pharmacist Mike Cook at the shop in Montague, northwest of Grand Rapids.

Cook was on the boat when the camera was lost. He relayed the story to Deb Hays of Whitehall. The camera belonged to her husband.

Hays told the television station that “when something falls in a great lake, your chance of getting it back is slim to none.”

Man to play lead in ‘Hello Dolly’

BOCA RATON, Fla.

A Boca production of “Hello Dolly” is breaking ground with a male taking on the iconic lead role made famous by Carol Channing and Barbra Streisand.

Boca Raton’s Wick Theatre had to get special permission from composer Jerry Herman.

The Sun-Sentinel reported that it will be the first production in the U.S. where the role of Dolly Levi has been played by a man. Danny La Rue took on the role in England in 1982.

This time around, Lee Roy Reams is stepping into the part.

Reams starred opposite Channing twice in the Tony-award winning show.

The musical tells the story of a matchmaker who sweeps into the staid lives of a Yonkers store owner and his staff, as well as two ladies in a millinery.
