Trump: Paris attack would have been different with more guns

BEAUMONT, TEXAS

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says the terror attacks in Paris would have been “a much, much different situation” had the victims been armed with guns.

And he says the U.S. is “insane” to accept any refugees from Syria in the wake of the attacks. Trump was speaking at a rally in Texas.

He began the event with a moment of silence in honor of the victims of the attacks.

Trump criticized President Barack Obama’s handling of the Islamic State group, saying that the U.S. should be more aggressive.He’s been calling for the U.S. to destroy oil fields the group controls.

Meanwhile, Democrats see Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Ohio Gov. John Kasich as 2016 threats – and Trump and Ben Carson, too.

That’s what Democratic insiders are saying about the Republican outsiders who sit solidly atop preference polls in the race for the GOP nomination for president.

They are far more worried about GOP candidates who have experience in office, with Marco Rubio cited most often as the strongest potential competition for their overwhelming choice for the Democratic nomination, Hillary Rodham Clinton.

“As a Democrat, I’d love to see a Trump-Carson ticket,” said Bob Mulholland, a member of the Democratic National Committee from California.
