Illinois State 42, Southern Illinois 21

CARBONDALE, ILL.

Marshaun Coprich had 29 carries for 254 yards and three touchdowns for Illinois State. Coprich had scoring runs of 11, 22 and 75 yards — for the 10th Illinois State touchdown of 50-plus yards. He was four yards away from tying a career-high set against Eastern Washington. Southern Illinois led 21-14 at halftime after Mark Iannotti’s three touchdown passes. But Tre Roberson had rushing touchdowns of 13 and 23 yards on back-to-back drives — sandwiched around a Southern Illinois fumble — early in the third quarter. Roberson was 4-of-13 passing for 88 yards and had 13 carries for 72 yards with two scores for Illinois State (8-2, 6-1). Five runners combined for 372 yards rushing and six touchdowns. Iannotti threw for 329 yards on 42-of-62 passing with one interception for Southern Illinois (3-7, 2-5).

South Dakota State 30, South Dakota 23

VERMILLION, S.D.

Nick Farina scored on a 43-yard interception return to cap South Dakota State’s come-from-behind victory. Kyle Paris had two touchdown runs, and Taryn Christion ran for another to lead the Jackrabbits (8-2, 5-2). Ryan Saeger threw a 40-yard scoring strike to Brandt Van Roekel, and ran for a 1-yard touchdown. Miles Bergner kicked two 45-yard field goals, and a 50-yarder for South Dakota (5-5, 3-4). The Coyotes led 20-10 in the third quarter. Paris then scored twice from the 2, and Farina picked off a Saeger pass and scored to give the Jackrabbits a 30-20 lead. Bergner kicked his second 45-yarder to pull the Coyotes to 30-23. Brady Hale’s 50-yard punt pinned the Coyotes on their own 8 with two minutes left. The Coyotes drove to the Jackrabbit 43 before Saeger’s pass was knocked down near the end zone to end it.

Western Illinois 37, Indiana State 30. OT

TERRE HAUTE, IND.

Nikko Watson ran for three touchdowns including the game-winner in overtime. Watson carried 30 times for 153 yards for the Leathernecks (5-5, 4-3). His 8-yard score early in the fourth quarter tied the game at 30 and sent it into overtime. He then took it in from the 1 in the overtime period for the win. Sean McGuire threw for 332 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score. Joey Borsellino caught 10 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown. The Sycamores (4-6, 2-5) led 20-10 at halftime and went up 27-10 early in the second half. Then McGuire connected with Borsellino for a 78-yard touchdown and Watson ran for another score and the Leathernecks trailed 30-24 at the end of the third quarter. Matt Adam threw for 261 yards and a score for Indiana State.

Northern Iowa 41, Missouri State 0

SPRINGFIELD, MO.

Aaron Bailey ran for four touchdowns and Northern Iowa shut out Missouri State. Bailey finished with 161 yards on 19 carries for the Panthers (6-4, 4-3). He also completed 4 of 12 passes for 61 yards. Tyvis Smith carried 16 times for 143 yards and a score. The Panthers amassed 512 yards while holding Missouri State to just 139 yards and six first downs. Bailey ran for three scores in the first half — the longest from 26 yards — and Smith scored from 56 yards three plays into the game, giving the Panthers a 28-0 advantage at the break. In the second half, Bailey took it in from 10 yards out for a 35-0 lead with 4:32 left in the third quarter. Brodie Lambert was 12 of 24 for 96 yards passing for the Bears (1-9, 0-7).
