On Tuesday, World Prematurity Awareness Day, the March of Dimes is hosting a breakfast for local business leaders from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at the Youngstown Country Club, 1402 Country Club Drive.

The event features Dr. Elena Rossi, associate chairwoman for pediatrics and staff neonatologist at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley, who, with Connie Knight, community director for the March of Dimes, will update the local business community on the recently released 2015 Premature Birth Report Card for Ohio and the local community.

Operation Warm

Sharon, Pa.

Penn State Shenango faculty, staff and students will collect mittens, gloves and hats to donate to Joshua’s Haven, the Prince of Peace, and West Hill Ministries as part of its Operation Warm Hands project.

The Penn State branch will collect goods during the Hermitage Light Up Night Parade on Saturday. Participants can donate in the decorated collection bins that will be displayed near the Penn State Shenango 50th Anniversary float.

Donations also will be accepted at the Shenango campus in Sharon Hall, Room 200, on Penn Avenue. For information, call 724-983-2860.

Care and Share

LEETONIA

The Salem Township and Leetonia police departments will be sponsoring the Care and Share program, which provides for area families and veterans during the holiday season. Anyone willing to offer monetary donations or gift cards and certificates can drop off the items at the Leetonia Police Department, Attn: Care and Share-Tracy, 300 E. Main St., Leetonia, OH, 44431. The deadline is Dec. 14. Family and individual sponsorships also are available.
