Canfield Township opens two part-time positions

Staff report

CANFIELD

Two part-time positions are open to Canfield Township residents: zoning inspector and administrative assistant.

Currently, township administrator and road superintendent Keith Rogers is handling both of those jobs in addition to his own. He said he was eager to find someone.

Pay for the jobs is negotiable based upon applicants’ qualifications. The hours will be as needed.

Some of the responsibilities of the zoning inspector include issuing permits, collecting fees, inspecting sites, dealing with violators, coming up with future budgets and attending Mahoning County Planning Commissions meetings.

Trustee Marie Cartwright said an administrative assistant is needed as well to help the board with various functions – especially the insurance implementation. “It is one of the many reasons we need an administrator, so they can compare the rates for us to ensure all the people are being treated equally,” she said.

In addition Canfield township is advertising for alternate positions to the zoning commission. The positions and hours are as-needed whenever a fill-in is required, and are paid $30 per meeting or per case heard.
