Man nabbed on drug possession charge

BOARDMAN

A township man was arrested early Wednesday on a charge related to what police say appeared to be a drug overdose.

Township police arrested Justin Cassidy, 37, of Arlene Avenue, during a traffic stop during which they discovered he had an active warrant out of Boardman for a misdemeanor drug-possession charge.

The charge stems from a May 22 incident in which police and emergency responders were called to the Arlene Avenue residence in reference to an unresponsive male, according to a police report.

Narcan, an opioid-overdose antidote, reportedly was administered to Cassidy after responders observed signs of drug abuse at the scene, according to the report.

Cassidy is scheduled to appear in Mahoning County Area Court here later today.
