Playhouse youth theater presents ‘Charlotte’s Web’

The Youngstown Playhouse’s youth theater will open its season with the musical “Charlotte’s Web.”
The beloved children’s classic will be performed on the main stage at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Donna Smith Downie is the director, with Cristen Manion serving as assistant director and set designer. Ellie DiCiero and Pat Petaccio created the costumes.
Adapted from E.B. White’s ageless story of true friendship by Joseph Robinette, “Charlotte’s Web” features music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer Charles Strouse.
The Playhouse cast of more than 20 actors is led by Mario Chick and Abby Witherstine as Wilbur and his best friend, Charlotte. Savanah Dutton, David El’Hatton, Genevieve Quinlan, Denise Sciuli and Terry Shears have featured roles.
Rounding out the cast are Lilly Andrei, Audriana Brancker, Nicole DeToro, Barbara Evans, Mikel Flatley, Gwendolyn Kopco, Caryn Kurdyla, Randy Madison, Cristen Manion, Sophia McHenry, Adriana Quinlan, Emma Roberts, Olivia Thomas, Roan Thomas, Jenna Weiser, Amy Witherstine and Tyler Witherstine.
Tickets are $10 ($7 for children, students and current Youngstown Playhouse Flex Pass holders) and can be purchased by calling the box office at 330-788-8739 and online at theyoungstownplayhouse.com. The theater is at 600 Playhouse Lane (off Glenwood Avenue).
