Business to collect goods for dogs

Shepherd Self Storage, 7469 South Ave., will collect donations of Milk-Bones, Busy Bones and fleece blankets as well as monetary donations to benefit Friends Of Fido-Mahoning County Dog Pound throughout the month of November. Donations can be dropped off at Shepherd during business hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

The blankets and bones will keep the dogs at the pound warm and happy while volunteers work to find them homes. Monetary donations will offset veterinary expenses including spay/neutering, treatment of heartworm and parvovirus, kennel cough, broken bones, deworming, eye infections and other medical conditions.

Meal with Santa to benefit hospital

A third annual Breakfast with Santa event to benefit Akron Children’s Hospital is set for 9 a.m. Dec. 5 at Antone’s Banquet Center, 8578 Market St.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 10. Breakfast includes French toast sticks, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit and hash browns.

The event will include holiday music and dancing, face painting, entertainment, crafts, children’s chance auction and a gift for each child.
