Frey’s health issues delay Eagles tribute

NEW YORK

The Eagles are postponing their Kennedy Center tribute because of co-founder Glenn Frey’s health issues.

The Washington-based center announced Wednesday that the Eagles will not participate in a Dec. 6 ceremony that also will honor Carole King and George Lucas, among others. Frey, who turns 67 Friday, has long suffered from intestinal problems, which he has blamed on his drug use during the band’s early years, and is expected to undergo surgery.

The Kennedy Center plans to honor the Eagles in 2016. Frey and Don Henley are the remaining original members of the band, which now also includes Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit.
