Kokens celebrate 60th anniversary at family dinner

YOUNGSTOWN

A family dinner at The Phoenix Fire Grill and Bar in Canfield took place Oct. 10 in observance of the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Koken of Youngstown. Dessert followed at the home of Michael (Andrea) Koken of Canfield. Susan (George) Brandenstein of Youngstown hosted the events.

Attending were the couple’s other children, Joseph (Kathie) Koken Jr. of Woodbury, Minn.; Kevin (Jen) Koken of Cranberry, Pa.; and Sally (John) McGlone of Jamestown, Pa. Fourteen grandchildren complete the family.

Mr. Koken and the former Theresa Slaina were married at Sacred Heart Church in Youngstown on Oct. 15, 1955.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954 and retired earlier this year. Mrs. Koken retired in 1995.

The couple are members of St. Luke Church where she is a member of the Altar Rosary Society and he belongs to the Holy Name Society.
