COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Police say a 72-year-old bicyclist has been blinded in his eye after being shot with a paintball gun.

Morris McCarty was shot in Columbus Friday night. Police found him bleeding from his right eye on the ground next to his bicycle.

McCarty told officers that the backseat passenger of a passing vehicle had shot him with a paintball gun.

McCarty was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for complete vision loss in his eye.

Police say they’ve identified a 20-year-old man as the shooter and he is scheduled to be arraigned on felonious assault charges Monday.
