Budd St. house fire

BROOKFIELD

Three departments were called to battle a house fire in the 7000 block of Budd Street on Friday evening, Trumbull County dispatch center reported.

The fire broke out at 8:37 p.m. but was under control an hour later, the center reported.

The home’s occupants escaped safely.

The center had no other details.

Along with Brookfield’s, the Hartford and Sharon fire departments responded.

Shooting reported

YOUNGSTOWN

A 20-year-old man told police from ValleyCare North Side Medical Center he was shot in the thigh about 10 p.m. Thursday on the North Side.

The man told police he was walking on Thornton Avenue near Kensington Avenue when he heard three shots and was struck.

The man managed to go to a relative’s home a short distance away, and she drove him to the hospital, reports said.

Ex-employee pulls gun

Township police are investigating after a former Buffalo Wild Wings employee reportedly came into the bar with a firearm, refused to leave and threatened a manager.

Police responded to the location at 7401 Market Street at about 1:30 a.m. Friday. A manager told police she was fearful for her life after the suspect started to pull out a gun he had in a holster after she and other employees tried to get him to leave. The suspect left the scene before police arrived.

Shot while walking

YOUNGSTOWN

A 19-year-old city man told police he was shot in the leg and thigh early Thursday as he walked to a gas station to buy cigarettes.

The man told police who were called to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital about 4:45 a.m. that several men, one of them holding a gun, approached him in a car while he was on Mount Vernon Avenue.

The victim said he gave the group $120 and tried to knock the gun out of the man’s hands before he ran away. When he reached his home in the 2300 block of Buckeye Circle he discovered he was shot, reports said. His mother drove him to the hospital.

Girlfriend charged in shooting incident

Township police arrested a Warren woman Thursday on felony charges stemming from a May 22 incident in which she reportedly fired a gun at her boyfriend.

Jasmine Johnson, 28, is charged with felonious assault and discharging a firearm into a habitation, both of which are second-degree felonies.

Township police responded to Maryanne Lane May 22 for 911 calls about gunshots. The victim told police Johnson fired a gun at him after an argument, missing him and hitting a car tire.

Johnson was arraigned Thursday in Mahoning County Area Court and posted bond.
