HM sisters at Villa Maria offering enrichment classes

VILLA MARIA, Pa.

The Sisters of the Humility of Mary will lead a variety of mini enrichment classes in a fun and engaging environment at the Villa Maria Community Center, 318 Villa Drive.

Classes will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 22 through 25, and the offerings follow:

Movies: The Language of Pictures: Elements of the visual language using “On the Waterfront” as an example.

Art & Prayer: Learn how art provides a way to enter into prayer by opening you to your inner wisdom through the use of your hands.

Counted Cross Stitch: Cross stitch is a great way to relax and create beautiful decorations. Learn basic skills and stitches with step-by-step instructions.

App-ily Ever After: Introduction to a variety of apps that can be used on an iPad or iPhone.

Learn to Crochet: Learn stitches to create a scarf.

Homemade Candy for Every Occasion: Learn to make bon-bons, Easter eggs and chocolate covered delights.

Retreat Evenings to Refresh Your Spirit: Experience God’s peace as you relax and make some time for your soul in the beautiful environment of Villa Maria.

Walk the Labyrinth: The labyrinth is a tool for centering; a metaphor for our journey through life. Learn about its history, walk the labyrinth, and share reflections and insights about the experience.

Animal Balloon: Learn the simple fundamentals of how to inflate, tie and twist balloons into various animal forms.

Feeling Loopy: Create a hat or headband that appears to be crocheted using a simple loom.

Don’t feel like taking a class? All are invited to an open house each evening to meet the sisters, learn their history, and take a tour of the beautiful Villa Maria convent, chapel, retreat center, farm and apartments.

Courses are open to anyone 16 and older. The registration deadline is June 15.
