Salem man gets jail time on vehicular homicide charge

YOUNGSTOWN — A Salem man was sentenced today by Judge Shirley Christian to 30 days in the county jail in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for an accident last year that killed a passenger in his car.

Jonathan Shellenberger, 25, had earlier pleaded guilty to charges of vehicular homicide and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs for a March 24, 2014, accident on Garfield Road in Goshen Township that killed Anthony Michael Colon, 23.

Reports said Shellenberger's car went off the road between Seacrist Road and state Route 534 and hit a telephone pole.
