Boardman man gets probation for running over roommate

BOARDMAN — A Boardman man today was convicted of vehicular manslaughter, a second-degree misdemeanor, after running over and killing his roommate in February.

Max Fitzer, 60, of Macarthur Drive, was sentenced to 12 months of probation, fined $100 and given a 90-day suspended jail sentence.

Police say Fitzer ran over his roommate, Eric Bacher, 49, after the two came home one night in February. Fitzer, who police say showed signs of intoxication, called 911 after realizing what had happened, according to a police report.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Bacher underneath a vehicle in the garage with “no signs of life.”
