AUSTINTOWN

Canfield High School’s Andrew Hallof won the discus with a toss of 165 feet, eight inches, which beat out Austintown Fitch’s Logan Kusky’s toss of 159 feet, three inches in Wednesday’s state qualifier. Fitch senior Dylan Latone finished third in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet. The Falcons sit in third place in the team standings with 18 points after four events. They trail regional leader Stow-Munroe Falls by only one point. The Cardinals are fifth with 10 points.

NAVARRE

McDonald capped off an impressive first day at regional competition with 23 points to lead all boys teams. Contributing to the total was Christian Smith, who won the discus with a toss of 198 feet, nine inches, and Albert Yates, whose toss of 162 feet, two inches was good enough for fourth. Newton Falls’ Bucyrus Palo took second with a toss of 187-01 and Jonathan Neely of Ursuline was third with 167-03. Maplewood isn’t far behind McDonald with 10 points through four events. The 4x800 relay team of Allen Sparks, Tristan Dahmen, Derek Morrison and Jake Hall took first in the race with a time of 7:57.51.
