Ground-breaking of new Spartan Stadium set for this weekend

BOARDMAN

Boardman Local School District will break ground on the new Spartan Stadium on the high school campus at 1 p.m. Saturday.

“We are writing a new chapter in the history of our district,” said Tim Saxton, district director of operations, in a release.

“We are grateful for the investment in Boardman. We thank the Booster Club and our countless donors who are making this dream a reality. We look forward to celebrating the completion of the complex,” he said.

The stadium already has new turf. This phase will add 4,100 home seats, 3,000 visitor seats, and enclosed press box and a scoreboard.

It is expected to be complete in September.
