AFP seeks nominations for philanthropy awards

The Association of Fundraising Professionals — Mahoning Shenango Chapter is accepting nominations for the 2015 National Philanthropy Day Awards.

This year the luncheon ceremony will celebrate the 25th year of the awards in the Valley. It is planned for Nov. 20 at Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center, 7440 South Ave.

Nominations will be accepted from the community in the following categories:

Outstanding Philanthropist: individual or family

Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist: corporation or corporate foundation

Outstanding Small Business Philanthropist: 100 employees or fewer

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser: individual or small group

Outstanding Civic Organization: civic volunteer group

Outstanding Young Philanthropist: individual or group, 18 and under

Legacy Award: presented in conjunction with the Mahoning/Shenango Planned Giving Council posthumously to an individual or family

Nomination forms and descriptions of criteria for each award can be found at www.afpmash.org or by emailing afpmash@gmail.com. The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. July 15 for consideration by the selection committee and should be directed to AFP, P.O. Box 672, Youngstown, OH 44501 or emailed to afpmash@gmail.com.

Nominees must reside in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties in Ohio or in Mercer or Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania.

Philanthropy is vital to local charities and the well-being of the community. The public is invited to nominate individuals or groups that meet the criteria.
