Warren man remains in jail facing stalking charge

WARREN — Lonnie D. Watson, 57, of Euclid Place Northeast, is being held in the Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond after his arraignment this morning on a charge of menacing by stalking.

Warren police arrested him Friday for purportedly trying to entice a girl, 14, into his vehicle Friday morning on Waverly Avenue Northeast near his home. Judge Terry Ivanchak also ordered that Watson receive a psychiatric evaluation.

The girl’s mother reported the incident at 7:47 a.m. Friday, saying a man pulled up in his vehicle and made inappropriate comments to the girl and tried to entice her to get into his vehicle.

The girl’s mother said she also took photos of the man and posted them on a social media web site.

The same woman also reported that a man was following her daughter in his vehicle at 2 p.m. May 13 on the same street. The mother said she got the license plate on the man’s vehicle and took a picture of him that day also, according to a Warren police report.

Watson was arrested at 12:27 p.m. Friday and remained in the Trumbull County jail over the weekend.
