Student earns Demetrios Memorial Scholarship

YOUNGSTOWN — A student at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center today was presented with a $1,000 scholarship to continue her education at Youngstown State University this fall.

Maria Haynes, 17, of Canfield, was awarded the Leslie Marie Demetrios Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship created by Diane Demetrios in honor of her daughter, who died in 2013 and previously attended the county school.

Haynes graduates from the school's public safety program and will study criminal justice and psychology at YSU.
