Robbery foiled in Austintown

AUSTINTOWN — A man attempted to rob a township gas station early today.

Austintown officers were called to Country Fair station, 1143 N. Canfield-Niles Road, at 1:29 a.m. for a robbery in progress.

A police report said a male walked into the store with a bandana covering his face, “while simulating his hand as a gun and demanded money from both clerks,” the report said.

The two store clerks refused to give him money and he ran from the store. A police dog was able to track the suspect to the area of the Comfort Inn on Clarkins Drive, but lost the trail.
