Mahoning County hosts Ebola confab July 30

AUSTINTOWN — The Mahoning County District Board of Health is planning a conference on how to deal with Ebola and other special pathogens, such as small pox, should an outbreak occur locally.

The tentative date for the conference at the Boardman Holiday Inn is July 30, said Joseph Diorio, director of the health department’s community health division.

Diorio said community partners, including representatives of hospitals, the Youngstown City Health District, first responders, and law enforcement, will be invited to share their expert advice on many aspects, including personal protective equipment, medical transportation, isolation-quarantine enforcement, human-remains disposal and disseminating public information.

Diorio said at some point officials here will assist Trumbull County health officials in developing a plan specific for that county.
