Farmer’s market in Warren opens June 2

The Warren Farmer’s Market 2015 season begins June 2. It will be take place Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. through Oct. 6 in Courthouse Square at the corner of North Park Avenue and High Street.

Free parking is available in the Franklin Street Parking Deck. The market’s mission is to provide increased access to local, fresh and healthy foods for the Warren community.

Market sponsors are Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership in collaboration with Trumbull County Health Department’s Creating Healthy Communities, Mercy Health, and Lake-to-River Cooperative. The farmer’s market accepts the Ohio Direction Card for SNAP/EBT benefits as well as credit and debit cards.

Bargains for babies in Boardman Park

It’s one-stop shopping at Boardman Park’s Annual Baby Bargain Boutique Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Master’s Pavilion, 375 Boardman-Poland Road.

More than 100 moms will be selling baby and children items. Admission is free with a nonperishable food item donation for a local food bank.

New Little Library at Urban Roots Farm

Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation will open a new Little Free Library at 2 p.m. Thursday at Iron Roots Urban Farm. The event will be at the Mercy Health Foundation Demonstration Kitchen, 822 Billingsgate Ave.

The Little Free Library being installed at Iron Roots Urban Farm will focus on farming and gardening books.

It was constructed and donated by Frank Kishel in honor of his late mother. Little Free Libraries offer free books housed in small containers to members of the local community.

As of February 2013, all 50 states and 40 countries worldwide have been involved in the literary program. Little Free Libraries are “take a book, return a book” gathering places. This project is implemented in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Youngstown’s 100th Anniversary.
