Spring Fling benefits Millcreek Children’s Center

A Millcreek Children’s Center benefit, Spring Fling – The Show, supported its early-childhood-development programming and joined fashion with compassion for the Inaugural “Women in Philanthropy Luncheon.”

The program honored local women, Atty. Martha L. Bushey of Manchester, Newman and Bennett, LPA; and Laura Lyden, sales and operations manager of Lyden Oil Co., with the MCC 2015 “Excellence in the Valley” Award, recognizing them for their philanthropic accomplishments and professional achievements in the Mahoning Valley.

About 300 business and professional individuals from throughout the Valley attended the inaugural event at Stambaugh Auditorium. Featured guest was Molly Seals, system vice president, human-resources program delivery at Mercy Health, who provided the keynote address regarding Women in Philanthropy. Guests enjoyed a gourmet luncheon prepared by Chef Ottavio Musumeci of Station Square Ristorante, Boutique Shopping and Fashion Show presentation by ivory & birch, basket and luxury item/gift card raffles and an opportunity for a designer handbag door prize.

Fashion-show hair and makeup services were provided by Magnolia’s on the Green, Canfield.

Event sponsors were The Huntington National Bank, WKBN TV27, R.T. Vernal Paving & Excavating and HBK CPAs & Consultants, ivory & birch, The Donald P. Pipino Company, Ltd., Fred Martin of Youngstown, The DeBartolo Corp. – Denise and John York and Packer Thomas.

“We are proud that for nearly 40 years, we have been providing young children, ages 18 months through 5 years of low-income working parents, with an excellent preschool education and broad support services,” said Development Director of Millcreek Children’s Center, Karen A. Luke.

Since its inception in 1976, more than 2,800 children have benefited from the services of Millcreek Children’s Center.
