Fatality at Green Township house fire under investigation

A Green Township house fire from 11:58 p.m. Friday remains under investigation.

Green Township Fire hief Todd Baird said a person was found dead in an adjacent building next to the house at 12955 Lisbon Road, and a dog died in the fire.

The back of the house was engulfed when fire crews arrived, and so was a car 25 feet away from the house. Six other fire departments were called for help: Canfield, Beaver Township, Leetonia, Damascus, Perry Township and Columbiana.

The house is considered a total loss.

The Mahoning County Coroner’s office could not be reached on Monday for further details.
