Campbell man arrested following fight

CAMPBELL

One man was arrested for felonious assault over the weekend after police say he stabbed another man during a fight.

Thomas Butler III, 24, of Sixth Street in Campbell, is in the Mahoning County jail and accused of stabbing a 20-year-old Campbell man in the abdomen late Saturday.

Police were called to 21 Regent St. for a fight at about 11 p.m. Butler was reportedly fighting his friend at the location.

After Butler was taken into custody, police called an ambulance to help the 20-year-old man with a stab wound.

In addition to the stab wound, the man also suffered from five other injuries that appeared to be slices, according to a police report.

He was transported to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

Witnesses told police the fight started with fists and then escalated after Butler went into the house and brought out a knife.

Butler suffered facial wounds and was attended to, and complained of neck pain. He was sent to ValleyCare Northside Medical Center for an evaluation before he was sent to jail.

Mahoning County jail records show he was booked on Monday. An arraignment date had not been set, according to Campbell Municipal Court.
