Bulldog boys and Raider girls capture Division II crowns at Reilly Stadium

Poland senior Bryan Partika won the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and helped the Bulldogs win the 4x400 relay en route to the team title at Saturday’s Division II district track and field meet at Reilly Stadium.

The Bulldogs finished with 95 points, while West Branch was second with 86.

Poland junior Gino Centofanti won the 200, placed second in the 100 and helped the Bulldogs win the 4x100 relay and place second in the 4x200 relay.

Doug Rutana, Matthew Holsinger and Austin Wilson joined him on the 4x100 relay, while Tyler Smith, Dylan Garver and Holsinger ran on the 4x200 relay. Garver, Smith and Holsinger were on the 4x400 relay.

West Branch senior Jake Zinni, a Youngstown State football recruit, won the shot put and teammate Zach Robbins captured the high jump title. The Warriors’ Josiah Ross, Rob Lozier, Hunter Nielsen and Matt Heffinger won the 4x200 relay.

On the girls side, South Range junior Mackenzie Ferenchak won the long jump, placed second in the 300 hurdles and ran on a pair of top-five relays to help the Raiders edge Poland for the girls team title, 104-95. Salem was third with 88.

Poland senior Theodora Constantine won the 100 hurdles and the Bulldogs won a pair of relays: the 4x200 (Macy Diaz, Libby Rubesa, Kirsten Appel and Madeline Evan) and the 4x400 (Diaz, Grace Kennedy, Rubesa, Evan).

Salem senior Marissa Swindell won the 400, sophomore Elizabeth Aukerman won the 300 hurdles

West Branch senior Haley Davis won the 1600, senior Alyssa Wright won the discus and junior Alexandrea Bennedetti won the 200.

The top four placers in each event advance to next week’s regional meet at Austintown Fitch High.
