Submit information on VBS sessions

Lists of vacation Bible schools open to the public will run on the Religion page.

Please include the following information: the complete name of the church; address with city or township; time, date and location of sessions; program theme; ages or grades; and whether it’s free or there is a fee. Information should be submitted two weeks before the school’s opening or its registration deadline.

For verification, include a name and phone number of a contact person, which will not be published.

Brunch with friends at First Presbyterian

MINERAL RIDGE

First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., will host BFF Sunday, Brunch Food and Friends, after worship at 10 a.m. Sunday, which follows the summer schedule that begins Sunday.

Members of the congregation are encouraged to bring a friend to church with them.

Fifty-year members Betty Garland, Marsha Brozier, Don Hudzik and Billie Moore will be honored.

There will be a brunch potluck after worship. The Church Growth Committee will provide hot dogs, beverages and cake.

Anglican mission opens city center

YOUNGSTOWN

St. Francis of Assisi Anglican Mission, a new, inner- city church plant of the Anglican Diocese of the Great Lakes, has opened its worship and outreach center in the Heart Reach Ministries Building at 211 Redondo Road, Suite 111.

St. Francis is a Mission Church of the Anglican Church in North America and its clergy leader is Father John Harris, O.S.M.

As a Mission Church within the 78 million-member worldwide Anglican Communion, St. Francis affirms the four streams of Anglican witness to the Gospel: Sacramental, Evangelical, Charismatic and Social Justice.

Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m. and Holy Eucharist at 10:30 a.m. Adult Bible study is every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Bike Day blessing at First Baptist

HUBBARD

A Bike Day blessing is planned at noon May 31 at First Baptist Church, 59 Orchard St.

The Revs. Luke and Katie Oskin and members of the diaconte will give blessings and take prayer needs.

Worship is at 10:15 a.m.

There will be hot dogs and refreshments. Each rider will receive a gift.

The mission focus will be collection of personal hygiene items to be distributed to Hubbard school students in need. An offering for mission outreach will be taken.

Healing liturgy

NORTH JACKSON

The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 N. Lipkey Road, will conduct a special healing liturgy Sunday with the Rev. Amedeo Guida of the Diocese of Syracuse, N.Y., and Deacon Paul Salamy assisting.

Father Guida has been involved in healing ministry for 25 years.

Confessions will take place at noon, Roman rite liturgy at 1 p.m. and healing service at 2. Refreshments will follow in Cedars Hall.
