A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

May 17

Theft: A North Lorain Avenue woman told officers a man removed $100 from her pants pocket and refused to return it.

Weapon: A woman gave police a firearm and a loaded magazine that belonged to a West Second Street man who had been arrested on a warrant.

Theft: A woman discovered a $300 cellphone missing while at a Church Hill Road banquet center.

Fraud: A Wellman Avenue woman saw on her credit-card statement two such online charges totaling $57.

Menacing: An Indiana Avenue man reported having gotten several threatening calls, including one in which he was threatened with bodily harm, pertaining to his daughter.

May 18

Assault: A 14-year-old boy was to face a simple-assault charge after a fight in Tod Park off Park Avenue, where another 14-year-old boy reported having been punched in the face and knocked to the ground.

Identity fraud: A Girard woman reported a caller claiming she had been approved for a loan also stated he needed additional personal information before she hung up.

Theft/unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Morris Avenue woman alleged her boyfriend took her car without permission, as well as a safe containing $200.

Menacing: A South Davis Street man alleged his landlord with whom he’s embroiled in an ongoing feud threatened to burn down the home.

Theft: A woman reported roughly $1,100 worth of silver jewelry missing from her residence in the 500 block of East Liberty Street.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A South Randolph Avenue woman said her son borrowed but failed to return her 2010 Ford Fusion vehicle.

May 19

Assault: Authorities received information of an assault at Girard High School, 1244 Shannon Road, in which a girl and a boy alleged having been punched and shoved by the other.

Identity fraud: A Squaw Creek Drive man found out someone without permission had filed federal and state income-tax returns under his or his wife’s name.

Arrest: Officers responded to a possible fight in the 200 block of Broadview Avenue, where they took into custody 37-year-old Christopher Hilty of Girard on a Trumbull County warrant charging failure to pay court-ordered child support.

Identity fraud: A Hickory Trail man learned that his debit card had been used online to make unauthorized purchases.

HUBBARD

May 12

Burglary: Took place in the 900 block of Saul Drive after someone evidently had used a credit card to unlock a rear door. Nothing appeared to be missing, however.

May 15

Assault: Police responded to a fight at Hubbard Middle School, 250 Hall Ave., where a 13-year-old girl reported having been punched in the face during an altercation at a choir concert.

Recovered property: A man found a golf cart and two air guns in a wooded area near Center Street.

Menacing: A girl, 17, said another girl tried to get the accuser to fight with her in the 3500 block of Mapleridge Drive.

May 17

Arrest: John R. Swab III, 35, of Jane Street, Masury, was picked up in the 700 block of Triangle Drive. He was wanted on a felony warrant charging him with receiving stolen property.

Criminal damaging: Officers received a complaint that four boys had jumped on vehicles in the 50 block of Orchard Avenue, where one car was found with minor dents.

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 500 block of Stewart Avenue resulted in minor-misdemeanor citations charging Brandon M. Anthony, 23, of West Park Avenue, Hubbard, with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Found was 20.7 grams of suspected marijuana, police said.

May 18

Recovered property: A handgun was found on the road in the 30 block of West Liberty Street.

Animal complaint: After receiving a report that a dog was running loose near Center and School streets, officers issued a summons charging 43-year-old Kay M. Brenner of School Street, Hubbard, with failure to keep a dog under reasonable control.

LIBERTY

May 13

Theft/vandalism: A Northgate Drive woman alleged her boyfriend had taken two of her debit cards. Also, cigarette burns and tobacco stains were found on several pieces of furniture, a report said.

May 14

Domestic violence: Mindy M. Nicholas, 32, of Shady Lane, Girard, was charged with the crime after a man alleged Nicholas had struck and clawed at his face during an argument. The accuser had scratches and redness on his neck.

Warrant: A 42-year-old township man was expected to surrender on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Theft: A woman reported about $14,000 worth of jewelry missing from a drawer in her Walker Circle home.

May 15

Theft/drugs: Michael J. Bansberg, 21, of Overbrook Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with theft and possession of dangerous drugs after $276 worth of lobster tails and spare ribs was stolen from Giant Eagle, 4700 Belmont Ave. Bansberg also had six over-the-counter pills with no prescription, authorities said.

Pursuit: A charge of failure to comply with police was pending against a 36-year-old Youngstown woman after authorities had tried to pull her over near Colonial Drive. The woman led officers on a vehicular chase that reached 70 to 80 mph before it was called off for safety reasons, a report showed.

Arrest: Jason M. Pettit, 28, was taken into custody in the 1100 block of Laurelwoods Drive. The Akron man was wanted on a felony drug charge from that city.

Criminal trespassing: A man told police that someone posing as a water-meter reader had tried to enter his Sampson Drive residence.

May 17

Burglary: Someone entered an apartment in the 20 block of Trumbull Avenue and apparently damaged a 60-inch TV.

Arrest: Police in Girard picked up Denisha M. Mays, 33, of Wildwood Court, Youngstown, and Jason A. McKoy, 35, of West Second Street, Girard. Both were accused of failing to appear in court.

May 18

Arrest: While investigating a suspicious vehicle in the 1200 block of Trumbull Avenue, police took Herman B. Jackson into custody. Jackson, 38, of Dunstan Drive, Warren, was wanted on a felony receiving-stolen-property charge from Franklin County, Ohio.

May 19

Arrest: Canfield police handed Wendy M. Moats-Thrasher to township authorities. Moats-Thrasher, 43, of Fountain Square Drive, Austintown, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Burglary: Someone broke into an apartment in the 200 block of Colonial Drive, apparently obtained a car key and took a 2006 Saturn Vue vehicle.
