Miss Ohio 2014 will co-host Niles Pageant

Staff report

NILES

The Niles Pageant made a successful return last year after a hiatus.

Not only did 26 participants enter the contest in 2014, but it also received the support of a local beauty queen, Miss Heather Wells, Miss Ohio 2013, who co-hosted the event.

This year, another Miss Ohio will take part in the contest, according to the Niles Pageant Committee.

Mackenzie Bart, 2014 Miss Ohio and an accomplished ventriloquist, will co-host this year’s pageant, which will take place June 28 at 4 p.m. in the McKinley Birthplace Museum and Library, downtown.

Young ladies wishing to participate in this year’s pageant must submit an application by June 5.

Applications were distributed throughout the Niles school system and additional forms can be found at the Ralph A. Infante Wellness Center in Niles.

Those who are unable to submit an application in the mail in time can do it by email.

Call 330-501-8680 or 330-301-8386 or email missnilespageant@aol.com to receive an entry form.

All participants must reside in the 44446 ZIP code.

This year’s pageant is open to the following ages:

Little Miss, age 5 through 8.

Junior Miss, age 11 through 14.

Miss Niles, age 15 through 2015 graduating seniors.

Finalists will receive up to $500 in cash prizes, including crowns, trophies, jewelry, photo sessions and various shopping, dining and beauty certificates.

Instead of cash, an American Girl doll will be awarded to the 2015 Little Miss, in addition to other prizes.
