Youngstown police find drugs, cash in searches at 2 homes

Members of the police department’s vice squad found $3,945 cash while serving search warrants Wednesday investigating drug activity at two homes.

Police found $1,933 on Danny Williams, 20, as they were searching his home at 564 E. Lucius Ave. about 6:05 p.m. He was caught behind a garage in the 500 block of East Avondale Avenue, reports said.

Inside the home, officers found three bags of heroin, a bag of marijuana, a digital scale and a bag of crack cocaine. Williams was arrested on charges of trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs/heroin, possession of drugs/crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Also arrested at the home was Stephon Austin, 32, for possession of crack cocaine, obstructing official business, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence. Reports said Austin ran from the home when police showed up, and he was caught. Along the path he ran, police found a bag of crack cocaine and a mixing cup.

Earlier, at a home at 11 Park Heights about 4:55 p.m., police found $2,012, as well as three handguns and multiple boxes of ammunition, a digital scale, three bags of crack cocaine and a bag of heroin. One of the bags of crack and the heroin were found in an air duct inside the home, reports said.

Arrested was Keith Davenport, 34, who lists the home as his address, on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of drugs/heroin, possession of drugs/crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was given a citation because the grass in the yard was too high.
