On April 28, the Boardman library hosted Night Owl Story Time. The program is for children between the ages of three and five. The library started hosting Night Owl Story Time just this past January.

Children’s librarian Karen Saunders, one of the four librarians working with children, was in charge of the class on Tuesday.

“We have a story time every Tuesday night for the working parents,” Saunders said.

Night Owl Story Time is composed of half story time and half crafts. Parents get to spend time with their children during reading time and helping them create a fun work of art after.

“I’m all about the crafts,” Saunders said. “My favorite part is seeing the kids get all excited.”

Saunders continued to say that although some children are nervous at first, the more they come the more comfortable they become at the library and with those working during the story time.

“After that they’re so excited to come to story time,” Saunders said.

Saunders said she is excited for all the programs that are going to come for summertime — including expanding story time for whole families.

“Story time is why we are children’s librarians,” Saunders said. “We love the kids and the program.”

Saunders usually opens the class to older brothers and sisters as well, allotting the time for anyone that wants to accompany the children.
