Gotta Move story time was hosted at the Austintown library on May 7. This event is a half hour of singing, dancing, reading and fun for young children. Jen Kuczek led the class that morning, getting everyone — parents included — to stand up and move around while they learned.

“The whole purpose is just to get them up and moving,” Kuczek said. “We call it baby aerobics.”

Kuczek said some library events for children require sitting down in a calm manner and just listening, but not this one.

Nadia Costick came with her nephew and son, Isaac. Costick said this was her first time here with her 2-year-old son, but it isn’t her first time to an event like this.

“My sister used to work full time and I would come here and bring my nephew,” Costick said.

Costick also said she remembered the fun she had when she came previously, and she wanted to share it with her own son and nephew as well.

“I think this takes them back to the basics — nursery rhymes, ring around the rosy,” Kuczek said. “Kids need more back to the basics with books.”

On the way out Kuczek pulled out a tunnel to crawl through, ending the journey with bubbles.

“It’s nothing extravagant but they love it,” Kuczek said.

She also said that even preschool children, the two that were in attendance, had fun moving around while reading stories.
