Foo Fighters will be Letterman’s final musical guest

Tonight marks the final “Late Show with David Letterman,” and the musical guest will be Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters.

The band is Letterman’s favorite, according to rollingstone.com, which reported the Foo Fighters appearance.

Fronted by Warren native Grohl, the Foo Fighters have been repeat guests on the show over the years, and did a weeklong residency in October to promote their album and HBO project “Sonic Highways.”

After a 33-year run, Letterman is retiring with tonight’s episode. “Late Show” airs at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.

Last month, the Foo Fighters performed a last-minute concert at a storefront rented by the Record Connection in Pine Tree Plaza in Niles as part of National Record Store Day.
