Expect some musical heavyweights to turn up Saturday in Las Vegas at the funeral service for B.B. King, whose influence spread far beyond the blues. Here is what some of the world’s greatest musicians have to say about the man born Riley B. King, who died Thursday at age 89:

v Vince Gill: “He was the face of the blues ... as famous as he was, for all the accolades, what struck me was the gentlemanliness he had, the kindness.”

v Buddy Guy: “The tone he got out of that guitar, the way he shook his left wrist, the way he squeezed the strings ... man, he came out with that, and it was all new to the whole guitar-playin’ world. The way B.B. did it is the way we all do it now.”

v Brad Paisley: “He was a little bit of a contradiction. As much as he was known for playing the blues, this is one of the happiest people I’ve ever met.”

v Billy F. Gibbons (ZZ Top): “He could do more with a short-stated phrase than most could do with the calendar and the alphabet combined.”

v Bonnie Raitt: “Oftentimes, people overlook that he’s such an amazing singer. It’s because of his eloquence and his soul as a singer, the way he interprets a lyric... Whether it’s heartache or anger or joy, it’s that passion that he builds and builds, then pulls back and waits, and then it erupts.

“Survivor: WORLDS APART” (8 P.M., CBS): Five castaways remain on “Survivor: Worlds Apart” and you know the drill: One will win a million bucks in the finale and the others will talk all kinds of trash in the reunion special that follows.

“500 QUESTIONS” (8 P.M., ABC): The new game show “500 Questions” may make your brain curl up in the fetal position. Some very smart people try to answer 500 very difficult questions with one simple rule: Miss three in a row and you’re out.

“THE LATE show with David Letterman” (11:35 P.M., CBS): After more than three decades of brilliant comedic innovation, late-night absurdity and A-list guests, David Letterman bids farewell as “The Late Show with David Letterman” airs its final episode (story at right).

Season enders: “Survivor” (8 p.m., CBS); “Mysteries of Laura” (8 p.m., NBC); “Modern Family” (9 p.m., ABC); “Supernatural” (9 p.m., CW); “Law and Order: SVU” (9 p.m., NBC); “Black-ish” (9:30 p.m., ABC); “Chicago P.D.” (10 p.m., NBC)
