Cavaliers take Game 1 in Atlanta

ATLANTA — J.R. Smith made a Cleveland playoff-record eight 3-pointers and scored 28 points and LeBron James scored 21 points as the Cavaliers beat the Atlanta Hawks, 97-89, in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Game 2 is Friday night in Atlanta.
