Crash ends high-speed chase for Warren woman

WARREN

Melanie Ferrell, 43, of Dunstan Drive Northwest and North Perkins Drive Northwest faces felony charges of failure to comply with the orders of a police officer.

The charge was filed Monday in Warren Municipal Court. Police say Ferrell led them on a high-speed chase Sunday night.

A not-guilty plea was entered for her, and she is being held in the Trumbull County Jail without eligibility to make bond.

Police said they were called to the parking lot at Packard Music Hall, 1547 Mahoning Ave. NW, for a possible drunken driver and found Ferrell pulling onto Mahoning Avenue.

She did not stop when an officer used his lights and siren. Ferrell drove the car over a curb and demonstrated other erratic behavior, police said.

Ferrell made several turns and drove in the wrong lane of travel on Parkman Road in a construction zone, then traveled on the state Route 5 bypass in the easterly and then westerly directions, weaving around traffic and reaching speeds above 100 mph before crashing into the median at 8:39 p.m.

Ferrell suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Warren Hospital for treatment.
