Market Street accident sends one to the hospital

BOARDMAN

A crash at Market Street and Southwoods Avenue rolled a truck and sent one woman to the hospital Monday.

The truck driver, Paul Jones, 23, of Youngstown, was cited for failure to yield after an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper determined that Jones attempted to turn left onto Southwoods in front of a Saturn traveling south on Market Street. The impact of the crash sent Jones’ truck rolling on its side, hitting another vehicle that was stopped at the light on Southwoods. Jones and the woman in the third vehicle were not injured.

The driver of the Saturn was sent to the hospital with minor injuries; a passenger in the car was not injured.

“I had to kick my way through the windshield,” said Jones, shortly after the accident early Monday afternoon.

The truck and the Saturn sustained major damage. The third vehicle was damaged but still functional.
