BOARDMAN

The Mahoning County Medical Society Alliance installed its 76th president, Diana McDonald, at a May 6 luncheon at Cafe 422.

Jackie Kupper, immediate past president of the Ohio state alliance, presided over the installation.

Other officers installed were Elizabeth Roller, vice president; Paula Jakubek, treasurer; and Tricia Potesta, treasurer.

A native of Northwood, Ohio, McDonald graduated from Mercy College of Northwest Ohio in 2001 with an associate degree in nursing. She has worked in several nursing positions in various medical fields, including medical-surgical inpatient in Toledo and New Jersey; obstetrical prenatal underserved population clinic in New Jersey; and most recently in oncology and liver transplant inpatient at the VA hospital in Pittsburgh.

The new president joined the MCMSA in 2013. She previously served as secretary and then vice president for Mahoning County. She is entering her second year as District 6 director. McDonald also has served as co-chairman of the MCMSA annual champagne brunch and fashion show, and she is an active member of TWIGS, Together With Important Goals, a group of nearly 500 volunteer women across Northeast Ohio who bring smiles to the faces of Akron Children’s Hospital patients.

The women create simple craft ideas, package the kits individually and deliver them several times a week for patients.

As part of Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Kids’ Crew, McDonald has served as chairman of the American Girl Fashion Show and as a committee member of Champions for Our Valley’s Children, the Clubs for Kids Golf Classic and Holiday Hopes and Wishes. She also raises funds for the Rich Center for Autism and participates as a committee member for the PAR Memorial Golf Tournament.

The alliance’s plans during McDonald’s term as president include raising funds for the Rich Center and Beatitude House. She hopes to lead the alliance to participate in the Safe Sleep Initiative to reduce infant mortality.

McDonald resides in Canfield with her husband, Dr. David McDonald, a pediatric radiologist at Akron Children’s Hospital.
