A man who was in Campbell Municipal Court on an open-container charge fled the courtroom Friday morning, prompting a manhunt.

When Kevin Sabo, 38, of Riley Street learned his bond would be $250, he turned and ran, according to a police report.

Police in the station downstairs in the municipal building heard an alarm go off and began to chase him.

A witness eventually told them he’d entered a home on Devitt Avenue, where they found him in a room in the basement. He was handcuffed and taken back to jail, where he awaited his court appearance.
