The Youngstown Playhouse premiered a sneak peek series of “Fiddler on the Roof” with the Poland library on April 30. For the past two years, The Playhouse has been giving sneak peeks of their productions to libraries in the area. They do this twice per year, once for every musical.
Bernie Appugliese, operations manager for The Playhouse, introduced the sneak peek to a small audience at the library, thanking them for attending.
“We always premiere themes and songs from musicals,” Appugliese said. “But it’s our first time at Poland.”
Matt White, musical director for the production, accompanied Appugliese for the musical part of this mini production. White said he enjoys the production as a whole, but favors the process specifically.
“My favorite process is watching it come together with the choreography and the vocals,” White said.
White said he was most impressed with this production’s cast.
“This cast really surprised me because I think when I originally scheduled the first rehearsal i didn’t expect to go as far as I went,” White said. “Within the first musical rehearsal I could tell the cast was vocally going to be strong so I was very excited about that.”
With that knowledge White said it gave him the initiative to be able to push the cast further, into what he needed them to do.
