Market Street Elementary School in Boardman had An Evening in Paris on April 17 for fathers and daughters. This is the eighth year running for special parent-child events at Market Street Elementary.

Nicole Torres and Cara Essad put on these events, each year having a new theme. Some of the past themes include Candy Land, Secret Garden, Hollywood, Winter Wonderland and Mardi Gras. Torres and Essad host other parent-child events including mother-daughter, father-son and mother-son.

“It’s a nice way to incorporate all of the families,” Essad said.

Daniel Ortello, father to one of the students, said he enjoyed the scenery around the event.

“It looks nice – the set up is really nice,” Ortello said. “It’s nice bonding with your loved ones, the memories. Memories last forever.”

Beyond the beautiful Parisian scenery, Torres and Essad made sure to provide snacks, opportunities for pictures, an art studio in the school gym to paint one another’s portraits, a DJ for music entertainment, cupcake decorating and more.

Essad said for the low price of $10 they try to Ado all they can for these events.

This evening of fun even brings back students that have already surpassed elementary school that help or just want to be around for their younger siblings’ fun.

“The best part about our father daughter dances is that our past girls had so much fun they come back for the next generation,” Torres said.

Torres said this family friendly event is good for everyone, more than just the children – but parents too.

“It brings us closer,” Torres said.
