Judicial order shuts down Warren store suspected in drug deals

WARREN —Police raided Atlantic Beverages on Atlantic Street today, confiscating the drug Oxycodone on two employees in the store.

The raid followed an investigation by the Warren Police Department during which undercover police officers purchased the drug from operators of the store while working behind the counter, said Greg Hicks, Warren law director.

After the raid, Hicks went to the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, where Judge Ronald Rice issued an order shutting the store down until a hearing at 1:30 p.m. May 26 in common pleas court.

That hearing will determine whether the store should be deemed a nuisance and closed down for a year.

No arrests have been made yet, but arrests are still possible later this afternoon, Hicks said.
