Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Inc. has been named one of the top 500 design firms in the United States by Engineering News-Record magazine. The firm has retained this distinction for more than a decade. ENR is a leading trade journal for architects, engineers and contractors. It compiles its Top 500 Design Firms list annually based on the revenue earned by engineering and architectural firms from services performed in the preceding year.

Originally founded in 1962, HRG employs 200 people and has locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Waste, recycling data

The Ohio Chapter of the National Waste & Recycling Association released statewide economic-impact data on the waste and recycling industry for the first time. In Ohio, nearly $6.7 billion in direct, indirect and payroll-induced economic activity is generated by the industry, according to newly released NWRA state economic impact analysis. The private waste and recycling industry in Ohio employs 14,000 people, has a total annual payroll in excess of $638 million, generates annual revenue of $3.1 billion, and the average annual compensation for industry employees is $45,867.

Tech Belt summit

YOUNGSTOWN

The third annual Tech Belt Technology Summit will take place at the Youngstown State University Williamson College of Business Administration from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., today. The event gives Northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania business decision-makers a chance to meet with select vendors and information technology solutions-provider companies and discuss their latest technologies and solutions. There also will be three lunchtime roundtables featuring speakers from Cisco, EMC Corp. and Hewlett-Packard.
