BOARDMAN

Cortland Savings and Banking Co. will expand its footprint in Mahoning County with its third retail location.

Located on the corner of U.S. Route 224 and Tippecanoe Road, construction of the nearly 4,400-square-foot facility began in March and is slated for completion in July. The branch will open sometime between September and October.

“We’ve been growing in Mahoning County in the commercial and mortgage lending,” said Danielle Cantrell, vice president and retail banking manager of Cortland Banks.

“We want to capitalize on the growth we have, and grow more,” she added.

The bank’s two other locations in the county are in North Lima and in Boardman on South Avenue. The new location will have 10 to 12 workers with about half of them as new hires, Cantrell said.

“I love how much we’re growing and expanding in this area,” she said.

Additionally, Cortland Bancorp, the bank’s holding company, announced Wednesday it has been named to the 2015 OTCQX Best 50, the first ranking of the top 50 strong performing U.S. and international companies traded on the OTCQX marketplace. The ranking is based on an equal weighting of one-year share price performance and average daily dollar volume growth in the previous calendar year.

“We are honored to be named one of the top-ranking banks in the 2015 OTCQX Best 50,” James M. Gasior, president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “We strive to create shareholder value, and we thank the OTCQX for recognizing our efforts.”

Cortland Bancorp placed No. 32 in the rankings.
