FOOD SALES AND DINNERS
THURSDAY
New Hope United Methodist Church, 21 Fairview Ave., Niles, will host community dinners from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursdays in May. Dinners are sponsored by Niles McKinley Lodge and the church.
VFW Col. Louis J. Campbell Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. The cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.
VFW Donald Lockett Post 6488, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, and the Royal Line Dancers will have a wing dings and fries special for $5 from 6 p.m. to closing.
VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Prices are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children under 12 and $7.25 for carryouts. Meals include meatballs, salad, Italian bread and coffee or tea.
FRIDAY
Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. The cost is $6 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316. Orders can be picked up beginning at noon. A limited supply of frozen pirogi will be available. The last day for sales is May 29.
Holy Trinity Church, 250 N. Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided. The last sale of the season will be May 22.
Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown, will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.
Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will take orders for freshly made potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 per dozen. No containers are necessary. Orders should be placed from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at 330-746-9528 and are to be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 per dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Use the side entrance.
St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome. The final sale of the season will be May 22. Sales will resume in September.
St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, sells potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi on Fridays. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $6 per dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Walk-in orders are welcome. May 29 will be the last sale of the season. They will resume in September.
SATURDAY
Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave., North Lima, will host a chicken barbecue from 3 to 6 p.m. The dinner includes baked potato, applesauce, green beans, roll, drink and pie. The cost is $9 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Meals are sit-down or carryout. Call 330-549-2588 for information.
Negley Masonic Lodge, 50873 Richardson Ave., will host an all-you-can-eat soup night from 4 to 7 p.m. at the lodge. A variety of soups will be available. Prices are $7 for oyster soup and $6 for all other soups. Children 12 and under can eat for $4. Takeout orders will be available.
SUNDAY
Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Ave., Boardman, is having a spaghetti dinner from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. The meal includes meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and beverages. Prices are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Tickets can be bought at the door.
St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, will be the location of an elevator fundraiser dinner at noon, sponsored by the Ladies Altar Guild. It will take place in Colonial Hall at the church. The meal consists of roast beef, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, vegetable, salad, bread and butter, dessert, coffee, tea, water and pop. The cost is $15 for adults and $7.50 for children. Make reservations by calling 330-799-1751.
