Port authority receives four resumes for executive director’s job

Staff report

VIENNA

The Strategic Planning Committee of the Western Reserve Port Authority reviewed four resumes from candidates to fill the port authority’s executive-director position and fine-tuned its new strategic plan.

The deadline for resumes to be received for the job is 5 p.m. Friday in the office of the port authority’s legal adviser, Dan Keating. Keating declined to provide any of the resumes Tuesday but said they will be open to public inspection after Friday’s deadline passes.

John Moliterno, interim executive director, said he submitted a resume.

Before going into its closed-door meeting, the committee chiseled out a couple of options for the authority’s vision statement.

Committee members were happy with ones using words such as “cultivating aviation and job creation” and “focus on aviation and job creation.”

Members also liked a proposed mission statement that read: “The mission of the Western Reserve Port Authority is to maintain and continue to develop the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and promote financing and economic development activities in Mahoning and Trumbull counties with the primary focus on job creation.”

The committee also discussed a change to the authority’s bylaws that would identify who would be authorized to speak to the news media on the authority’s behalf.

Committee members felt the executive director and chairman of the board should provide most of the information, with committee chairmen authorized to talk about their committees and staff members expected to speak on their areas of expertise.

Further discussion will take place at the next board meeting at 8:30 a.m. next Wednesday at the authority’s Youngstown office, 240 N. Champion St.
